Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site CNC Machinist role based in Fareham. The CNC Machinist will set, operate, and program (where applicable) 3- and 5-axis CNC machining centers to produce precision components and tooling. Daily tasks include:
- Interpreting engineering drawings
- Selecting appropriate tooling and machining strategies
- Loading and inspecting workpieces
- Optimizing machining parameters for quality and efficiency
- Performing in-process and final inspections
- Completing production documentation
- Collaborating with engineers and other team members to resolve machining issues
The CNC Machinist will also be responsible for basic machine maintenance, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Machine Operation and Machinery handling, including safe setup, operation, and basic maintenance of CNC equipment.
- Proficiency in Machining and Milling processes, with experience working to tight tolerances on a variety of metals and materials.
- Experience with Quality Control practices, including use of measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, Verniers, gauges) and completing inspection records.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CNC programs, and job documentation accurately.
- Previous experience as a CNC machinist or toolmaker in a precision engineering environment is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with 3- and 5-axis CNC machining centers and programming experience using Heidenhain is essential.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in machining, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
