GT Stewart Solicitors & Advocates is a nationally recognised, multi-office, multi-service firm known for its commitment to access to justice and excellence in client care. We are now recruiting two Night Shift Admin and Telephone Assistants to join our team in a newly created role that supports our critical out-of-hours service.

The role

Working overnight, you will be the first point of contact for calls coming into the firm and will provide key administrative support to our legal teams during non-office hours. You will be responsible for triaging incoming enquiries, logging key information, and coordinating the firm’s out-of-hours police station cover. When call traffic is lower, you will carry out essential administrative tasks such as opening files, drafting standard letters, and updating internal systems.

What we’re looking for

You should be organised, reliable, and calm under pressure, with a professional and friendly telephone manner. While legal experience is desirable, it is not essential — we are more interested in your ability to manage calls, follow procedures, and work independently and efficiently through the night.

Key responsibilities

  • Handling incoming calls overnight and managing enquiries in a professional manner
  • Coordinating our police station rota and liaising with on‑call representatives
  • Logging calls, updating internal records, and escalating urgent matters
  • Drafting standard correspondence and opening new case files
  • Providing remote administrative support to legal teams across the firm
  • Working some weekend and bank holiday day or night shifts as required

The ideal candidate will

  • Be confident and self‑sufficient working overnight
  • Have excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Be IT literate and comfortable using case‑management systems (training provided)
  • Be proactive, with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Remain calm and professional when handling sensitive or urgent matters
  • Ideally have experience in a legal or professional services setting

Why work with us

You’ll be part of a friendly, committed and forward‑thinking team. We are proud of our paperless systems and the investment we’ve made in our IT infrastructure to support flexible, remote working.

Employee benefits at GT Stewart

  • 23 days annual leave (increasing with service) plus bank holidays
  • Your birthday off, in addition to annual leave
  • Pension scheme with employer contributions
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Laptop provided
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Hybrid working culture and supportive management
  • Bi-annual staff parties (Summer and Christmas)
