About GSMA Technology

Technology Marketing supports the Chief Technology Officer and their Technology Team to deliver against their objectives of technology advancement, ecosystem engagement and thought leadership in priority areas from 5G and IoT to AI and quantum, as well as key vertical industries including fintech and manufacturing. The role involves owning the technology marketing strategy and managing the team that creates and delivers marketing plans that ensure a blend of marketing communications and ecosystem engagement tactics that demonstrate the value and opportunity of mobile connectivity.

The role requires close working with many internal teams and stakeholders including the CTO office, Membership, Industry Services, Brand & Content, PR, Legal, Finance, and the GSMA events business.

About the Role

The Marketing Director will primarily be responsible for producing and implementing the strategy and marketing plans that support the CTO business and its respective engagement and communication targets.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with the overall GSMA Technology KPIs and objectives, leveraging your understanding of both technology and marketing trends.
  • Technology Positioning and Messaging: Define the overall GSMA Technology value proposition and work with the team to develop compelling messaging that resonates with the target audiences. Ensure consistent messaging across all marketing channels.
  • Campaign Management: Coordinate and oversee marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital, social media, email, events, and traditional paid advertising. Monitor campaign performance and optimise strategies for maximum effectiveness.
  • Content Strategy: Develop a content strategy that educates, engages, and converts the target audience. Create and oversee the production of high-quality content such as blog posts, whitepapers, case studies, videos, and webinars.
  • Digital Marketing: Oversee digital marketing initiatives, including social media and email marketing. Stay updated on digital marketing trends and technologies to drive innovation.
  • Events & Sponsorship: Ensure major events are planned, resourced and delivered by direct and wider team. Ensure external sponsorship is secured, and contracts are created, to support marketing budgets.
  • Lead Generation: Support the lead-generation targets of adjacent marketing teams (Membership, Foundry, Intelligence, Industry Services, Events) via ensuring appropriate messaging & processes are in place to drive high-quality leads to the respective sales teams.
  • Member Engagement and Promotion: Implement strategies to drive member engagement, promote membership value, drive loyalty, and support ongoing member retention.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Utilise marketing analytics tools to track key performance indicators (KPIs), measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, and provide regular reports and insights to stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership and Management: Lead and mentor a team of marketing professionals, and provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to team members.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the marketing budget for technology initiatives, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and maximising ROI.

About You

  • You are an energetic, focused, team player who can inspire a well-oiled team to deliver beyond the KPIs set;
  • Technology-focused B2B marketing leader, with experience leading highly effective marketing teams in the telecoms or ICT industry;
  • You will have a proven track record of overachieving against marketing KPIs and demonstrating exceptional ROI;
  • Expertise in events, content marketing, database-focused marketing, website, social and email marketing campaigns as well as building close industry relationships;
  • Strategic thinker; able to define, articulate and drive strategic marketing goals forward to completion;
  • Strong ability to influence cross-departmentally to drive forward outcomes;
  • Keen focus on innovation and opportunities for continuous improvement;
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills;
  • Able to travel occasionally globally.
