You will be a key player in a multi-talented global team working across Africa, Europe, Asia, MENA, APAC, and Latin America. You’ll be at the forefront of developing and driving an important policy and advocacy agenda, supporting mobile operators in their work to protect customers from fraud and scams.

About the Team

The GSMA plays a pivotal role in the development of public policy relating to the mobile industry and its customers. Our global Policy & Regulation team leads the debate, representing the mobile industry to governments and regulators around the world with the aim of delivering a regulatory environment that maximizes development opportunities for mobile operators and long-term benefits for consumers.

In this role

  • You will support the Policy & Regulatory lead on scams and related policy issues, working closely with internal multi-disciplinary project team(s) as well as regional policy staff
  • You will draft internal governance documents, clearly articulating policy positioning, expected outcomes and strategic recommendations for executive approval.
  • You will undertake targeted interviews with relevant GSMA members, gathering insights to inform policy alignment and direction and building consensus across diverse stakeholders.
  • You will provide analysis and assessment of legal and regulatory requirements, and developments and their impact on GSMA operator members
  • You will help formulate the advocacy strategy and plans to support ongoing anti scams and security initiatives, and well as related BAU activities as required
  • You will support the development of regional and global messaging, ensuring consistency with public policy priorities and alignment across cross-industry advocacy efforts.
  • You will work in close coordination with other programme workstreams—including technical, innovation, and business-as-usual (BAU) activities—to ensure alignment, reduce duplication, and promote a direction.
  • You will maintain scam and security thought leadership content for GSMA members and stakeholders
  • You will represent the organisation at GSMA working groups and task forces and at external fora and conferences
  • You will deliver Capacity Building to regulators and stakeholders

About You and your skills

You have experience and skills in working on complex policy and regulatory issues within the telecoms industry and be able to demonstrable specialist knowledge in consumer policy including fraud, scams or security.

You have a solid knowledge and understanding of telecoms and Internet technologies and their related policy environments and stakeholders. The ability to point to previous significant interactions with GSMA or other industry associations will be highly desirable.

Your oral and written communication skills in English will be excellent and you will have a proven ability to convey complex issues in a clear and concise way.

You are a proven team player and experienced at working cross culturally and interacting with international stakeholders and those from different disciplines.

You will have possess a high personal commitment to working with confidentiality and integrity and a positive professional reputation.

You will already have the authorisation to work in the UK or EU.
