The Opportunity
Grounds & Services (GSL) are seeking experienced Civil Machinery Operators to join our growing civil construction team in Christchurch. This is a full-time, hands-on role working across a variety of civil construction, earthworks and stormwater projects. Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be responsible for operating a range of civil machinery while supporting site activities and maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and teamwork.
What you’ll be doing:
- Operating a range of modern earthmoving equipment including excavators, loaders, off-road dump trucks, bulldozers and skid-steer loaders
- Working across various sites including subdivisions, storm water basins and waterway enhancements
- Carrying out bulk earthworks, final trim, drain laying, truck loading and general earthworks
- Using machinery GPS systems and site plans to ensure work meets contract specifications
- Conducting daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance
- Operating machinery safely across varying weather conditions and terrains
- Assisting with general construction labouring tasks as required
What You’ll Bring:
- Class 2 licence with WTR is essential
- Class 4 licence an advantage
- Demonstrated experience with civil machinery, especially diggers, loaders and dumpers
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations on-site
- A positive attitude, eagerness to learn and the ability to work well with others is essential
