Job Title: Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Tower Hamlets
Salary Range: £90-£105 per day (Depending on experience)
Start time: ASAP
Contract: Full-time and Long-Term
Working Hours: 8:30 am to 3:45 pm

Are you a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (TA) with experience working with primary-aged children? Do you have a strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and phonics support strategies?

If so, GSL Education are seeking a committed and energetic Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a thriving and inclusive primary school in Tower Hamlets . This is a wonderful chance for a passionate individual to contribute to pupils’ learning and growth in a warm and supportive school environment.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant (TA) , you will play a key role in supporting pupils across different year groups, working closely with class teachers to enhance learning. A strong understanding of the primary curriculum , especially phonics instruction , is essential for helping young learners develop their literacy skills. Your responsibilities will include delivering phonics interventions and providing individual and small-group support , ensuring all students receive the guidance they need to succeed.

Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Provide tailored support to pupils, both on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Support teachers in delivering the primary curriculum, adapting learning materials to suit individual needs.
  • Assist with classroom management to create an inclusive and structured learning environment.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers to help inform lesson planning.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, promoting confidence and engagement in learning.
  • Assist children with additional learning needs, ensuring they receive appropriate support.
  • Encourage and support pupils’ social and emotional well-being, helping them develop essential life skills.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and parents to support pupils’ holistic development.

Requirements of the Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Primary school-based experience is essential, particularly within the context of working with children who have Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with children who have a variety of learning needs, including but not limited to Autism, ADHD and Learning Disabilities.
  • Use child-centred approach.
  • Able to support on a 1:1 basis.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification ( CACHE Level 2/3) or equivalent experience.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
