We are recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a Special Educational Needs department in a high performing college in Newcastle. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work with post-16 pupils aged 16 to 19. In this role, you will be providing 1:1 support to a Learner with Additional Needs. You will provide in-class support, assisting with tailored educational plans to meet the diverse needs and abilities of each pupil. You will work in a busy, friendly and supportive department where no 2 days will be the same.

  • Ex-Military/Police/Prison/security services
  • Mental Health Support Services (including CRISIS or Suicide prevention)

  • Any relevant voluntary roles

Candidates with a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification are also encouraged to apply!

Person Specification for our Teaching Assistant Role:

  • Experienced in supporting learners in this age group or the desire to
  • Great rapport builder
  • Good level of academic ability
  • Calm, kind and positive - very proactive
  • Organised and able to take instruction
  • Can participate in, manage, and assist struggling pupils in small intervention groups or 1:1 academic sessions
  • A Clear Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or the willingness to complete an immediate application
  • Check-able work history
