GSL Education are currently recruiting a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in South Shields. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities and making a meaningful impact on their learning and wellbeing.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. The school is keen to appoint a SEND Teaching Assistant who is patient, caring, and committed to inclusive education.

The Role of the SEND Teaching Assistant Will Include:

  • Supporting pupils with SEND on a one-to-one or small group basis.
  • Assisting pupils with learning activities adapted to individual needs.
  • Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour, and social development.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies.
  • Encouraging independence and promoting positive life skills.
  • Providing a high standard of safeguarding and pastoral care.

The Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant Will:

  • Be available to work Monday to Friday.
  • Have experience supporting pupils with SEND (desirable but not essential).
  • Be patient, empathetic, and proactive.
  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
  • Have a fully checkable work history.
