Job Title: SEND KS1 Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Nottingham
Pay Rate: £90 – £110+ per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND KS1 TA to provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils in Key Stage 1 with special educational needs. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on helping young learners build confidence, independence, and academic progress.
Role Overview:
As a SEND KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the school SENCO to support pupils with a range of needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. You will be instrumental in creating a positive, inclusive classroom where all children can access the curriculum and thrive.
Responsibilities as a SEND KS1 Teaching Assistant:
- Deliver tailored support to individual pupils and small groups.
- Help implement and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and break times.
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation using effective strategies.
- Promote the development of communication, literacy, and numeracy skills.
- Liaise regularly with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to to monitor pupil progress.
Requirements for the SEND KS1 TA role:
- Experience supporting children with SEN in a school or care setting.
- Understanding of Key Stage 1 curriculum and early learning development.
- A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to support.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- A full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any gaps in employment in the last 10 years.
