Join a Wonderful Primary School in Enfield as a SEN Teaching Assistant!

Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Enfield
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Long-Term
Employment Type: Full-Time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:45pm
Pay Scale: £90 – £105 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive primary school in Enfield that is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and making a meaningful difference to their educational journey.

You will be joining a welcoming school with a strong ethos of inclusion, where staff are valued, and teamwork is at the heart of everything they do.

Key Responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional learning needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • 1:1 and Small Group Support: Providing tailored support to pupils with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
  • Individual Education Plans (IEPs): Assisting the class teacher with the delivery of targeted learning strategies in line with pupils’ individual education plans.
  • Behaviour & Emotional Support: Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence, and emotional wellbeing, while promoting independence and resilience.
  • Student Progress Monitoring: Observing pupil progress, recording outcomes, and providing feedback to teachers and SEN staff.
  • Collaborative Working: Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff to ensure consistent and effective support.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN (school or similar setting)
  • A caring, patient, and understanding nature
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to learning support
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • SEN training or relevant qualifications (desirable but not essential)
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply)
