A welcoming primary school in the Maldon area is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with additional needs from January 2026 .

This is a full-time, long-term position and a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a child’s learning, confidence, and wellbeing while becoming a valued member of a supportive school team.

The Role:
  • Provide consistent one-to-one support for a pupil with SEN, helping them access learning and thrive in the classroom.

  • Support the child’s academic, social, and emotional development in line with their individual support plan.

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt activities and learning materials where needed.

  • Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement, independence, and confidence.

  • Support the child both in the classroom and during unstructured times such as break and lunch.

  • Monitor progress and feedback observations to teaching staff.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting.

  • A patient, calm, and nurturing approach, with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to build positive relationships and provide consistent support.

  • A genuine passion for working with children and helping them reach their potential.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3) are desirable but not essential.
