Job Description
GSL Education are excited to be assisting a fantastic setting in Newcastle who are looking for an exceptional Learning support assistant for a September start position . The role will be Monday to Friday working 8.30 till 3.30pmThe school prides itself on providing a safe and nurturing environment for learning , raising expectations and outcomes for the pupils within their care. The team of support assistants currently in school are supportive, motivated and passionate about their students. This setting specialises in the care and education of pupils with needs such as medical, physical, social, emotional and moderate learning difficulties. You will be working as part of the Primary team which is effective and supportive . This position will be ongoing for the right candidate and has a possibility of turning into a permanent position.
This position is open to any recent Graduates who wish to gain SEN experience before taking a route into Teaching. The school is bright and modern and easily accessible by either car or public transport Our ideal candidates will ……….
- Have excellent behaviour management skills
- Be confident establishing and developing strong relationships with pupils, parents, colleagues, and carers
- Be able to follow and assist with learning targets from the Class team in line with Education Health Care Plans
- Enjoy working 1:1 with children who have significant barriers or be interested in gaining that experience
- Have experience working within primary or secondary schools (Or – If you have experience in a different setting supporting children or young adults we would still love to hear from you – such as Care, Sports environments ,Creative arts , relevant voluntary positions)
- Have an enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to go through the process with us)
- Have a good level of academic ability
- Have a kind, calm and enthusiastic outlook with a great work ethic.
- Availability for at least six months
- A fully checkable work history
