GSL Education is looking for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing school in Rustington. This is a brilliant opportunity to support young people aged 5–16 who present with behaviours that challenge—often linked to Autism, ADHD, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
What You\’ll Be Doing:
This role is dynamic, hands-on, and deeply rewarding. You’ll play a key part in helping students stay engaged, regulate their emotions, and build positive routines and relationships.
You’ll be:
• Providing 1:1 or small group support to pupils with behavioural needs
• Using de-escalation techniques and behaviour support strategies
• Following individual behaviour plans and visual routines
• Encouraging independence, resilience, and emotional regulation
• Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and families
What We’re Looking For:
• Experience (or a genuine interest!) in supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour
• A calm, consistent, and compassionate approach
• A good understanding of safeguarding (or willingness to undertake training)
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service – or willingness to apply for one
