GSL Education are inviting applications for SEN Support Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Doncaster. Whether you are an experienced individual or looking to begin your journey in education, we want to hear from you.

As a Special Education Needs Support TA, you will support students with a range of special educational needs—including Autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and learning disabilities. Working closely with class teachers and SENCOs, you will contribute to personalised learning plans and help students engage confidently with the curriculum.

SEN Support TA Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual students with Special Education Needs (SEN).
  • Assist in implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Encourage students’ participation, independence, and social interaction.
  • Use a range of communication strategies to engage students with varying needs.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and external professionals to deliver consistent care.
  • Adapt resources and teaching methods to suit individual learning styles.
  • Monitor and record student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.

Requirements for SEN Support TA:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs as a SEN Support TA or similar is preferred.
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification in Teaching Assistance or Childcare (desirable but not essential).
  • A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
  • A degree in Psychology, SEND, Counselling or a similar field.
  • Ability to follow individual support strategies and adapt to dynamic classroom needs.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented approach.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
