SEMH Teaching Assistant Needed in Chapeltown!

Location: Chapeltown S35

Salary: 95 - 120 per day (Depending on Experience)

Start Date: Immediate

GSL Education are partnering with a compassionate and inclusive school in Chapeltown to recruit a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant. This role is ideal for individuals with a calm, empathetic, and resilient nature who are passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities of SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Implement strategies to help students regulate emotions and stay engaged
  • Build trusting relationships and serve as a positive role model
  • Support inclusive teaching and adapt materials as needed
  • Monitor and report on student progress and wellbeing
Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Experience supporting children/young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or SEND
  • Confidence in de-escalation and remaining calm under pressure
  • Understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA Certificate or Psychology degree preferred)
