GSL Education are currently recruiting a resilient and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work full-time within a specialist SEMH college in the Scunthorpe area. This is a challenging yet highly rewarding role, ideal for individuals with proven experience supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs and who are confident working in environments where challenging behaviour can present daily.

The Role:

  • Supporting students with SEMH needs on a one-to-one and small-group basis
  • Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
  • Supporting emotional regulation, engagement and personal development
  • Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to implement individual support plans
  • Helping to maintain a safe, structured and supportive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with SEMH and challenging behaviour (education, care or alternative provision settings)
  • A calm, resilient and consistent approach
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students
  • Availability to work full-time
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
