GSL Education are currently recruiting a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teacher to work in a school in Newcastle upon Tyne. This role is ideal for a passionate educator who is committed to supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and helping them achieve positive outcomes both academically and emotionally.
Job Summary of a SEMH Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to meet the needs of pupils with SEMH.
- Create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment that promotes emotional wellbeing.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and positive behaviour management techniques.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, and external professionals to support individual pupils.
- Monitor progress and adapt teaching approaches to support learning and personal development.
Requirements to be a SEMH Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification preferred.
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs or within alternative provision or SEND settings.
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Please note: This role requires an enhanced DBS registered on the update service and a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
