GSL Education are currently working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in Haringey that is seeking an experienced School Administrator to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong administrative experience within a school setting to play a key role in supporting the smooth, efficient, and professional running of the school office. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a UK school environment and be confident in using SIMS or other school management systems. This role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities of a School Administrator:
- General Administration: Managing daily administrative tasks, including reception duties, phone calls, emails, filing, and maintaining accurate records. Supporting the wider school office team in ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
- Attendance & Student Records: Monitoring and recording student attendance accurately using SIMS (or similar MIS). Updating and maintaining student records, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
- SIMS & Data Management: Using SIMS to input, update, and retrieve information as required. Supporting staff with SIMS-related queries and assisting in producing data reports when needed.
- Safeguarding & Compliance: Assisting with safeguarding administration, ensuring documents are stored and managed in line with school policies. Supporting compliance processes, including DBS checks, visitor management, and maintaining up-to-date safeguarding records.
- Communication & Liaison: Acting as a professional and welcoming first point of contact for parents, visitors, and external stakeholders. Liaising with teachers, support staff, and senior leadership to support the smooth running of school operations.
- Finance & Office Support (where required): Assisting with basic finance tasks such as processing invoices, tracking orders, and supporting budget monitoring. Undertaking additional office duties, including preparing letters, reports, and school communications.
The Successful School Administrator Will Have:
- Previous school administration experience (essential).
- Working knowledge of SIMS or willingness to be trained (SIMS experience strongly preferred).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a busy school environment.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in data handling and record maintenance.
- A professional, calm, and proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong IT literacy, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- An understanding of safeguarding, GDPR, and confidentiality requirements in schools.
- Enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
