Are you a Sports Coach looking for long term work within schools? Do you have experience working with 11–18-year-olds with additional learning requirements and Challenging Behaviour? Look no further - we have the ideal role for you!
GSL Education are currently recruiting for a Sports Specialist to work at an SEN secondary provision providing 1:1 and group support. The role includes working 1:1 with children who have complex behavioural needs and using sports as a therapeutic method to manage challenging behaviours and to support the child’s learning away from the classroom.
The role includes:
- Providing 1:1 behaviour intervention for pupils who have challenging behaviour and Mental Health difficulties.
- General Group support and using sports as an enrichment activity.
- Supporting the Class Teacher with daily tasks and planning.
- Taking small groups of children out of the classroom to use sports as a learning method.
- Encouraging learning and concentration in lessons.
- Leading sports classes indoors and outdoors.
- Identifying triggers of specific behaviours.
- Using sports as a method of de-escalating situations.
- Acting as a positive role model, energetic and always willing to support.
The ideal candidates will have:
- Experience in coaching/working with children or young people with additional needs previously.
- Experience working with Challenging Behaviour, Autism, ADHD and Social and Emotional Mental Health.
- Relevant qualifications; qualifications in multiple sports will be an advantage.
- A good understanding of the curriculum, English, Maths and Science.
- The ability to work full time – 5 days a week.
