Are you passionate about bringing the past to life and helping learners understand how history shapes the world?

GSL Education are proudly partnering with schools throughout Barnsley , including the S70 and S71 districts, to appoint a knowledgeable and engaging History Teacher who can deliver inspiring lessons.

As a History Teacher , you will support students in developing critical thinking, analysing sources, and understanding key historical events, while maintaining a calm and focused classroom environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging lessons that explore historical events, themes, and perspectives.
  • Encourage discussion, enquiry, and independent thinking.
  • Support learners in developing analytical and written skills.
  • Maintain positive behaviour management and clear classroom routines.
  • Monitor progress and keep accurate assessment records.

Requirements of History Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Strong subject knowledge with experience working as a History Teacher .
  • Clear communication and effective classroom management skills.
  • A commitment to inclusive learning and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
