Key Responsibilities of Design Technology Teacher:
  • Deliver well-structured and engaging D T lessons across relevant specialisms (e.g., Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, Textiles, Engineering, or Food Technology).
  • Encourage creativity, innovation, and problem-solving through practical and theory-based learning.
  • Plan and prepare high-quality lesson materials, projects, and assessments in line with curriculum requirements.
  • Maintain a safe and well-organised workshop/classroom environment, ensuring tools and equipment are used correctly.
  • Assess students' progress and provide constructive feedback to support academic and practical development.
  • Contribute to enrichment activities such as design clubs, competitions, and technology events where possible.
Job Requirements for Design Technology Teacher:
  • Hold QTS or a relevant teaching qualification in Design Technology or a related subject.
  • Strong subject knowledge and confidence delivering D T across various specialisms.
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred; however, applications with strong placement experience are welcome.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Creative, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to teaching and supporting students.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply through GSL Education.
