Full-Time Art & Design Teacher – Secondary School in Basingstoke, Hampshire

GSL Education are thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for a creative and committed Art & Design Teacher to join a forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Basingstoke, Hampshire. This full-time position is set to begin in September or October 2025, with the potential for a permanent contract following a successful probation period.

We welcome applications from both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced educators who are passionate about inspiring students through artistic expression and design thinking.

Responsibilities of an Art & Design Teacher:

  • Deliver engaging and imaginative Art & Design lessons to secondary school students.
  • Develop and implement innovative lesson plans that encourage creativity and critical thinking.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support artistic growth.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and self-expression.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to a dynamic and supportive school culture.
  • Participate in school exhibitions, workshops, and extracurricular activities that promote the arts.
  • Stay current with developments in art education and integrate contemporary practices into teaching.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A strong passion for teaching Art & Design and nurturing student creativity.
  • Experience teaching Art & Design at the secondary level (ECTs are encouraged to apply).
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to student well-being and academic success.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach to working with staff and students.
  • An up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years with no unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
