Do you have the confidence to lead a classroom and keep learning on track when the teacher is away? GSL Education are seeking reliable and proactive Cover Supervisors to work in schools across Wakefield. This role is ideal for individuals who can step into the classroom with confidence, maintain structure, and ensure students stay engaged with their learning.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning by supervising pre-set lessons and supporting students to remain focused and productive throughout the school day.
Main Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor:
- Supervise classes across a range of subjects during teacher absence
- Deliver pre-set work and ensure students remain engaged with tasks
- Maintain a calm, structured, and respectful classroom environment
- Manage behaviour in line with school policies and expectations
- Support students to complete assigned learning activities
- Provide clear instructions and encouragement where needed
- Report any concerns or behavioural issues to relevant staff
- Contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment
Requirements of a Cover Supervisor:
- Experience working with young people is desirable
- Strong confidence managing groups independently
- Clear communication and good organisational skills
- Ability to follow instructions and lesson plans accurately
- A calm, consistent, and flexible approach
- A genuine interest in supporting education and student progress
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
