Are you confident leading a classroom and supporting students in a secondary school setting? GSL Education are seeking reliable and enthusiastic Secondary Cover Supervisors to work in schools across Nottingham. As a Secondary Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged with their learning and lessons are delivered effectively using pre-set materials.

Responsibilities of a Secondary Cover Supervisor:

  • Supervise classes across a range of subjects during teacher absences
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure students stay on task
  • Maintain a positive, focused, and productive classroom environment
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Support students in completing their work and learning activities
  • Provide guidance and assistance where needed during lessons
  • Report any behavioural issues or concerns to relevant staff
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students

Requirements of a Secondary Cover Supervisor:

  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable
  • Confidence in managing a classroom environment
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to follow lesson plans and instructions effectively
  • A flexible and proactive approach to working in schools
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
