GSL Education are currently recruiting a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream school in Middlesbrough. This SEN Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs within a positive and inclusive school environment.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential. The school is keen to appoint an SEN Teaching Assistant who is patient, proactive, and dedicated to inclusive education.
Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with SEN on a one-to-one or small group basis.
- Assisting pupils with learning activities adapted to individual needs.
- Supporting social, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Working alongside the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies.
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
- Providing a high standard of safeguarding and pastoral care as an SEN Teaching Assistant.
Ideal Candidate / Qualifications
- Have experience supporting pupils with SEN in a school setting (desirable).
- Be patient, empathetic, and reliable.
- Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Be available to work Monday to Friday.
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
- Have a fully checkable work history.
- Must satisfy safeguarding and child protection; all successful applicants will undergo safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
