GSL Education are looking for a caring and committed Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school environment in Blyth. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional support in their learning journey, particularly those with SEN such as Autism, Speech & Language needs, ADHD, or SEMH.

Key Responsibilities of the Primary Teaching Assistant (SEN):

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
  • Use a range of strategies to promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil progress.
  • Support pupils\’ social, emotional and educational development.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of support and progress.
  • Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement personalised learning plans.

Job Requirements of the Primary Teaching Assistant (SEN):

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN (preferred).
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude.
  • A passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent are essential.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply through GSL Education).
