Role Overview
As a PE HLTA, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality PE lessons, working closely with teaching staff and students. From leading small groups to supporting lesson planning and organising school sports events, you’ll bring energy, enthusiasm, and structure to the PE department.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and deliver engaging PE lessons in line with the curriculum
- Lead small group activities and provide targeted 1:1 support
- Encourage teamwork, resilience, and positive attitudes towards sport
- Assist in planning and running sports days, competitions, and clubs
- Support assessment and progress tracking in PE
- Step in for classroom cover where needed with strong behaviour management
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and motivating sporting environment
- Uphold safeguarding and health & safety procedures in all activities
Requirements
- Experience in a school-based PE or coaching role (HLTA/TA/Coach)
- Relevant qualifications in Sports, PE, or Coaching (Level 3 or above preferred)
- Understanding of physical development and student behaviour
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills
- Passion for fitness, sport, and helping students thrive
- A proactive and adaptable approach in supporting all learners
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
