An excellent secondary school with good behaviour in Ashington is looking to appoint a creative teaching assistant to join their dynamic and forward‑thinking SEN department to work with pupils that have additional needs or English as a second language. The headteacher would like to hear from candidates that have a real passion for supporting pupils and delivering excellent pastoral care. The school is a smaller than usual secondary setting with a great catchment area. You would be working within a team of staff that are supportive, friendly and welcoming.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the pupils in their lessons on a 1:1 basis
  • Effective behaviour management
  • Working with the class teachers to implement interventions
  • Supporting and delivering creative and innovative lessons
  • Using formative and summative assessment
  • Report to the manager of the SEN department
  • Promoting independence with life skills
  • Providing an outstanding level of safeguarding and pastoral care

Qualifications

  • Be available for work Monday to Friday
  • Be proactive, energetic, kind and caring
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to go through the process with ourselves)
  • A fully checkable work history
