A specialist SEMH school in Newcastle is seeking a motivated and resilient Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This role is ideal for someone considering a future in teaching or educational psychology.
As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils engage with Maths and build confidence in their learning. The school is keen to appoint someone who is patient, adaptable, and passionate about supporting vulnerable learners.
The Main Duties of the Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant Will Include:
- Supporting pupils with Maths learning aligned to the national curriculum.
- Working one-to-one or in small groups.
- Supporting and managing behaviour in a calm and consistent manner.
- Assisting the class teacher to deliver engaging Maths activities.
- Adapting learning resources to meet individual SEMH needs.
- Promoting independence, resilience, and positive life skills.
- Providing a high standard of safeguarding and pastoral care.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Be available to work Monday to Friday.
- Hold a degree in Maths or a related subject.
- Be proactive, resilient, kind, and caring.
- Have strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
- Have a fully checkable work history.
