GSL Education are currently seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors (CS) for immediate daily supply and long-term positions across secondary schools in Sunderland. About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor (CS), you will be responsible for delivering pre-set work to classes in the absence of the regular teacher. While no formal teaching qualification is required, you will be expected to manage classroom behaviour and ensure a productive learning environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervising lessons and maintaining discipline within the classroom.
  • Distributing and explaining pre-set work to students.
  • Ensuring pupils remain on task and work is completed effectively.
  • Managing student behaviour in line with school policy.
  • Providing feedback to teaching staff after lessons.
  • Supporting pupils with general queries and ensuring safeguarding protocols are followed.

Cover Supervisor (CS) Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or working with young people in an educational setting.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to lead confidently.
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting young learners.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
  • A flexible, resilient, and proactive attitude.

Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
