Are you an experienced and caring Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? GSL Education Manchester is seeking a dedicated EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive South Manchester primary school from January 2026.
This is a full-time role working within the school’s Early Years provision, providing essential support to pupils with complex additional needs, including assistance with personal care as part of daily routines.
About the Role
You’ll work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider team to support children in Reception and Nursery who require additional support to engage with early learning, regulate their emotions, and manage daily tasks. Two pupils have high levels of need, requiring 1:1 support throughout the day. As part of the role, you will also assist pupils with toileting, nappy changing, and toilet training.
This is a highly rewarding role for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact on the early development of pupils with SEND.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of SEND
- Support children with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
- Assist with personal care routines, including nappy changing and toilet training
- Encourage independence through structured routines and individual targets
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and families to ensure consistent, high-quality support
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND, ideally in an Early Years setting
- Confidence supporting pupils with high needs, including Autism, global developmental delay, and sensory processing difficulties
- A sensitive, respectful approach to personal care responsibilities
- Excellent communication skills and a calm, patient manner
- A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and child development
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
This role is particularly suited to those with a background in care, Early Years education, or specialist SEND support who are looking for a purposeful, long-term opportunity.
