Responsibilities As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across various subject areas. Your responsibilities will include: Classroom Support: Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons by providing one-on-one or small-group support to students. This may include helping students with assignments, clarifying instructions, and ensuring they stay on task. Student Supervision: Supervise students during classroom activities, breaks, and transitions to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment. Address behavioural issues and report any concerns to the teacher or school administration. Resource Preparation: Help prepare teaching materials, including photocopying worksheets, organizing instructional materials, and setting up equipment for lessons. Ensure that all necessary resources are readily available for the teacher and students. Individualized Support: Work with students who have special educational needs or require additional assistance. Implement strategies and accommodations outlined in Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to help these students succeed academically and socially. Assessment and Feedback: Assist in grading assignments and providing constructive feedback to students. Collaborate with the teacher to track student progress and maintain records of grades and performance to support ongoing assessment and reporting. Classroom Management: Help maintain a positive classroom atmosphere by implementing behaviour management techniques and supporting the teacher in maintaining discipline and order. Encourage positive behaviour and reinforce classroom rules consistently. These responsibilities highlight the crucial role of a teaching assistant in supporting the educational process and ensuring the well-being of students in a secondary school setting. Requirements To excel in this role, you will need: A degree in any subject area, showcasing your commitment to academic excellence. Holding a degree at 2:2 or higher is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents. An enthusiastic and proactive approach, demonstrating your passion for education and your willingness to go above and beyond to support student learning. Flexibility and adaptability, as you will be working across various subjects and supporting different teaching styles. The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, contributing to a collaborative and supportive school environment.
