Setting: Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)

GSL Education is currently seeking a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive secondary PRU in Wandsworth. This role is ideal for someone who has previous experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) and is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing behaviours in class associated with social and emotional mental health needs (SEMH) for pupils aged 11-16 years old.
  • Supporting pupils with learning, therapy and social activities.
  • Being flexible and open to adapting approach to support individual pupil needs where required.
  • Assisting with recording pupil progress alongside attending annual reviews, multi-agency meetings and parents evenings where required.

Hours: 8:30am - 4:00pm, Full-time Monday to Fridays

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting children with social and emotional difficulties (SEMH) or with EHCPs.
  • Experience working in secondary schools or alternative education is highly desirable but not essential.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in an SEN or PRU setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Excellent communication, patience, and resilience.
  • Ability to support students with behavioural and emotional difficulties.
  • A proactive and compassionate approach to supporting young people.
