Job Title: Hearing and Visual Impairment Teaching Assistant (TA) Location: Wandsworth Salary Range: £85 – £100 per day (Depending on experience) Start: Immediate Contract: Full-time A specialist school in Wandsworth is seeking a full-time Hearing and Visual Impairment Teaching Assistant (TA) to support students with hearing and visual impairments. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to help students overcome barriers to learning in an inclusive and supportive environment. Hearing and Visual Impairment Teaching Assistant (TA) Responsibilities: Provide specialist support to students with hearing and visual impairments. Assist with classroom activities, adapting materials to meet individual needs. Use British Sign Language (BSL) or Makaton (if applicable) to aid communication. Work closely with teachers and therapists to implement tailored learning strategies. Support students' social, emotional, and academic development. Encourage independence and confidence in a nurturing setting. Hearing and Visual Impairment Teaching Assistant (TA) Requirements: Experience working with students with hearing and/or visual impairments (preferred). Knowledge of BSL, Makaton, or Braille (desirable but not essential). A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to learning support. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Passion for making a difference in the lives of students with additional needs. Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
