GSL Education are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic History Teacher to join a secondary school in Lewisham on a long-term basis until the end of the academic year. This role is ideal for a committed History Teacher who can deliver engaging lessons and support strong academic progress.
As a History Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, encouraging critical thinking, historical enquiry, and a deeper understanding of past events. The successful individual will contribute positively to the humanities department and maintain high standards of learning and behaviour.
Key Responsibilities of the History Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging History lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Inspire students to develop analytical and evaluative skills
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback
- Create an inclusive and well-structured classroom environment
- Contribute to departmental planning and whole-school initiatives
Person Specification:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for History
- Effective classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to motivate and challenge learners of all abilities
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
