Salary Scale: £90 - 95 a day

Contract type: Day to Day Cover, Short and Long Term - starting ASAP

We are currently seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist SEMH/Autism provision in Wolverhampton. You will have the opportunity to use restorative practices to support our students in their social and emotional development, speech, language and communication difficulties and autism, children aged between 5 to 19 years old. We believe that empathy is of the utmost importance in working with young people, and we encourage our staff to build strong relationships with our students from the very beginning.

In your role as a Teaching Assistant, you will focus on building these relationships in the first weeks, while also displaying your potential and social maturity. At our SEMH/ASD provision, we believe that every student has the potential to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances. About the role:

  • Providing 1:1 behaviour support to pupils with challenging behaviour and SEN requirements including SLD and PMLD.
  • Implementing appropriate structures to manage challenging behaviour, always being pro-active and engaging.
  • Acting like a positive role model and providing nurture support.
  • Providing numeracy and literacy booster sessions out of the classroom.
  • De-escalating heightened and volatile situations.
  • You will be supporting across Primary ages between 11 to 19 years old.
  • Personal care is mandatory within this school.
  • Resilience and adaptability to deal with a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges.

The ideal candidate should have experience working with challenging behaviour in an education or support setting. Candidates who have personal experience working with challenging behaviour, mental health, complex needs, speech, language and communication difficulties and autism are encouraged to apply.

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS Child and Adult Check must be on the update service. (We can assist you with a DBS if you do not have one)
  • 2x References are a must in order to clear your file with GSL.
  • Teaching Assistant Level 2 Qualification or similar is preferred.
