Salary: Β£1927 – Β£2271* per month

GSL Education are working in partnership with a specialist educational setting in Scarborough to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with additional needs. This setting supports pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and learning difficulties. The school provides a structured, nurturing environment focused on inclusion, emotional wellbeing, and positive outcomes.

The Role

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support within the classroom.
  • Supporting learning activities tailored to individual needs and EHCP targets.
  • Assisting pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and social development.
  • Implementing behaviour support strategies and maintaining clear routines.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff.
  • Supporting pupils during transitions, breaktimes, and structured activities.
  • Assisting with personal care and daily routines where required.
  • Maintaining a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.

  • Are patient, resilient, and empathetic.
  • Have a genuine interest in supporting pupils with SEN.
  • Have experience in education, care, or support settings.
  • Can remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenging behaviour.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and independently when needed.
  • Understand safeguarding responsibilities and child-centred practice.
