GSL Education are working in partnership with a specialist educational setting in Scarborough to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with additional needs. This setting supports pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and learning difficulties. The school provides a structured, nurturing environment focused on inclusion, emotional wellbeing, and positive outcomes.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils throughout the school day. Responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support within the classroom.
- Supporting learning activities tailored to individual needs and EHCP targets.
- Assisting pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and social development.
- Implementing behaviour support strategies and maintaining clear routines.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff.
- Supporting pupils during transitions, breaktimes, and structured activities.
- Assisting with personal care and daily routines where required.
- Maintaining a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
