Are you passionate about making a real difference in children’s lives? GSL Education is seeking a dedicated, calm, and patient Teaching Assistant to join a thriving pupil referral unit in Blandford Forum. This is a temporary full-time role with an ASAP start, offering the chance to support children aged 7-16 with behavioural needs.

This PRU focuses on creating a safe, supportive, and structured environment where children can achieve their full potential. Many of the pupils face challenges such as behavioural difficulties or learning delays, so the school’s ethos centres on developing confidence, resilience, and independence in every child. The team works closely with each student to provide tailored support academically, socially, and emotionally, celebrating successes both big and small.

The Role:

  • Support pupils in their day-to-day learning, helping them access the curriculum and make progress
  • Work closely with staff to implement individualised support plans
  • Help manage challenging behaviours with patience, consistency, and care
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, encouraging engagement and motivation

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Calm, resilient, and patient, able to remain composed in challenging situations
  • Experienced in working with children, ideally within schools or SEN settings
  • Comfortable working with pupils who may be behind academically or presenting behavioural challenges
  • Open to candidates from transferable roles, including Youth Workers, carers, or support workers
  • University students or graduates studying Psychology, Health & Social Care, or similar, are encouraged to apply
