A welcoming and well-regarded primary school in Loughton is seeking a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to provide 1:1 support for a child with autism in EYFS. This is a full-time, long-term position, starting as soon as possible, and offers a rewarding opportunity to support a child at a crucial early stage of their education.
About the Role
- As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support a child with autism on a one-to-one basis within an EYFS setting.
- Your role will be key in helping the child access learning, develop communication and social skills, and feel safe, supported, and included within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Providing consistent 1:1 support for a child with autism in EYFS
- Supporting learning through play-based and structured activities
- Encouraging communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
- Helping to implement strategies outlined in the child’s EHCP and support plans
- Assisting with routines, transitions, and sensory needs
- Promoting independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team
- Creating a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience supporting children with autism and/or SEN, ideally in EYFS
- A patient, nurturing, and calm approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Confidence supporting emotional regulation and early learning development
- A genuine passion for working with young children
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
