As the Senior Manager, Procurement – Capital Construction, you will spearhead the development, execution, and management of comprehensive, integrated category strategies for Capital Investment. You will serve as the Global Category Lead for all the Capital Projects for R&D and WREF sites worldwide with the majority of projects located in the UK and US.
Your responsibilities include leading procurement and contracting strategies for Engineering and Construction Services, in alignment with GSK’s capital plans. Depending on project portfolios, you may extend coverage to other GSK locations, such as manufacturing sites, as needed.
In this role you will:
- Be the Strategic Projects Procurement lead, accountable for procuring Engineering and Construction services for all Strategic capital projects of R&D and WREF.
- Develop and implement Project Procurement strategies in collaboration with Business teams, leveraging Engineering and Construction suppliers as appropriate to the project delivery model (e.g., EPCM, EPC, Design and Build, etc.).
- Be the Global Category Lead for R&D and WREF Capex, accountable for developing and implementing the overarching strategy for the Engineering and Construction categories.
- Align Capital Procurement work practices and methodologies across GSK's Global Supply Chain (GSC) for Rx, Vx, R&D and WREF.
- Develop performance-based and deliverables-based contracts.
- Implement Engineering Services, Project Management and Project Controls categories within the projects.
- Foster strong internal collaboration and sponsorship with stakeholders including site and global engineering teams, to achieve GSK's Capex objectives.
- Lead complex negotiations for Engineering and Construction Services to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Deliver high-quality, compliant, and timely agreements that are well-specified to provide a clear return on investment for GSK.
- Ensure effective contract management to guarantee adherence to contractual terms and proactively anticipate deviations to implement corrective actions promptly.
- Oversee a robust Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program with strategic suppliers, focusing on contract performance and governance.
- Streamline the supplier base worldwide by prioritising the use of preferred suppliers.
- Conduct external benchmarking to ensure GSK's practices and strategies are in line with current market standards.
- Generate significant value in terms of quality, delivery, safety, and cost, contributing to the organisation’s overall goals and objectives.
- Recruit and manage procurement resources to effectively fulfil all the responsibilities outlined above.
Qualifications & Skills
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Business, Finance, Engineering.
- Significant Procurement experience across key procurement processes (e.g. category management, market analysis, sourcing, negotiation, contract management, supplier relationship management).
- Seasoned construction contracts specialist with demonstrated expertise in negotiating, drafting, and managing development contracts to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Extensive experience developing and administering NEC4 contracts, including preparing contract documentation, managing change processes, and administering claims and disputes.
- Deep knowledge of US and UK construction markets, including regional contracting practices, procurement strategies, and regulatory requirements.
- Good business acumen, analytical, and financial skills.
- Fluent English.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills

- Master’s degree in Procurement, Business, Finance, Engineering.
- Experience in Capex projects and Construction is highly preferable.
- Experience in Pharma/Life Science industry.
- Experience in Lean/Six Sigma tools.
