We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist specialising in Spatial Analytics / Spatial Computational Biology with experience in spatial transcriptomics, advanced image analysis, bioinformatics and/or computational biology and experience in Oncology. This role will be a key contributor alongside a team of talented computational biologists and experimental scientists in the Oncology Translational Research Department. The Analyst will be responsible for analysing images of transcripts and protein expression using various machine learning methods, including deep learning, to derive understanding of the tumour-immune microenvironment and developing biomarkers for patient benefit.

In this role you will

  • Conduct spatial transcriptomics analyses using tools such as scanpy, scvi tools, spatial Data, squidpy, celltypist and Tacco; building and maintaining pipelines as required in Python and R.

  • Lead and collaborate closely with the Oncology Translational Research team members to design and conduct such analyses.

  • Derive insights from complex spatial data and report to relevant stakeholders to a high quality and within defined timeframes.

  • Collaborate with other research units and teams.

  • Innovate and introduce new methods.

  • BSc or MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field.

  • Extensive experience in analysis of spatial transcriptomics data.

  • Proficiency in R or Python programming.

  • Strong mathematical and statistical skills.

  • Ability to communicate with team members from different backgrounds, as well as senior members of the research units.

  • Ability to deliver high quality, consistent results in a timely fashion with a positive can-do and result-oriented attitude.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex scientific and business challenges.
