Medical Director – primarily a Medical Monitor responsible for developing, setting up, managing, and reporting data from Phase 1-4 clinical trial protocols involving both adults and pediatric studies. The role also involves designing trials, providing medical governance and perspective, handling medical queries, supporting study procedures and enrollment, and contributing to data interpretation and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to study protocol development and drafting.
  • Contribute to the development of supplementary study documents, including study procedures manual, reporting and analysis plan, and protocol deviation management plan.
  • Respond to regulatory authority queries regarding clinical studies.
  • Assist clinical scientists in preparing answers to local Institutional Review Board and Ethics Committee questions.
  • Address medical issues and concerns during the study feasibility assessment, interacting with investigators and their teams.
  • Provide medical perspective on overall study conduct, procedures, and safety event management.
  • Participate in Investigator Meetings at study start, delivering tutorials on medical and safety aspects.
  • Provide daily medical oversight to study participants, answering questions from study sites and Principal Investigators.
  • Support and contribute to regulatory filings with U.S. and international health authorities during and after trial conduct.
  • Coordinate with study team operational collaborators and sites to obtain necessary documentation for safety reviews.
  • Consult with external collaborators and scientific consultants.

Basic Qualifications

  • Physician (MD, DO or equivalent) with experience in Infectious Diseases or HIV.
  • Drug development or clinical trials experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Physician (MD, DO) with a clinical fellowship in Infectious Diseases and/or HIV clinical treatment experience, clinical development experience, or experience in clinical trials execution in Infectious Diseases and/or pediatric ID physician.
  • Drug development and clinical trials experience in HIV or Infectious Diseases.
  • Leadership experience, including working within a matrix environment.
  • Active medical license, or equivalent qualification to practice medicine.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to build strong professional interpersonal relationships across multiple functional areas.
