Overview

In this role you will own the analysis and framing of the R&D portfolio, integrating rigorous productivity metrics with an outside-in view from broker and analyst research. You will translate data into a concise, evidence-based view for senior leadership and external communications. You’ll synthesize external benchmarks to surface pressure points and support strategic portfolio decisions, while ensuring consistency between internal decisions and external narratives. This is a cross-functional, high-impact position shaping how external insights inform the portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Lead R&D & Pipeline analytics in collaboration with benchmarking teams to inform decision-making and external communications
  • Synthesize outside-in perspectives from broker/analyst research and external benchmarks and present neutrally to decision-makers
  • Own selection and interpretation of external data sources, ensuring consistent usage and understanding limitations
  • Develop and maintain R&D productivity metrics with transparent methodologies and cross-peer comparability
  • Support decision science and analytics projects with Oncology and R&I teams and propagate external analytics capability
  • Manage stakeholder networks across R&D Finance & Portfolio Value, Portfolio Decision Sciences, R&D leadership, Investor Relations
  • Co-develop R&D and pipeline narratives for external audiences, aligned with internal decisions and evidence base

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in biological sciences or related field; quantitative/financial background acceptable
  • Progressive experience in biopharma R&D/portfolio analytics, decision science, investment banking, or investor relations
  • Deep expertise in pharmaceutical R&D processes and in pipeline/portfolio analytics
  • Strong ability to translate complex data into clear insights for technical and executive audiences
  • Independent and objective; able to present outside-in views neutrally under stakeholder pressure
  • Hands-on quantitative analytics capability; able to contribute to disease-area analytics projects (e.g. Oncology, R&I)
  • Proven track record of high-impact deliverables and cross-matrix coordination across Portfolio, R&D, Finance and IR
  • Expert knowledge of external evidence bases (broker/analyst research, consensus estimates, CI) and benchmarking platforms
  • Strong communication and storytelling for executive audiences
