The Oral Solid Dose (OSD) Value Stream Director will lead the OSD value stream to deliver high-quality products with a focus on new product introduction manufactured safely to meet supply chain needs. They will develop value stream strategies that align with the site future state and the GSK Production System. They will directly manage people operations activities and the production; this role the successful candidate will have the opportunity to accelerate the development of medicines to patients through partnership with our R&D function to deliver new product introduction at pace and transition on to commercial manufacturing. The role also serves as a member of the Site Leadership Team (SLT) providing strategic input to enable the site to meet its business goals.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Accountable for safety within the OSD Value Stream.
- Responsible for compliance (EHS Quality GMP and QMS) of the people facilities and products manufactured within OSD at Ware.
- Lead the OSD Value Stream ensuring that all customer demand for commercialised products and new product introduction activities is met.
- Ensure appropriate governance and performance management processes are in place to manage Safety Quality People Supply Finance and Risk within OSD.
- Ensure business objectives are achieved and employees are developed to their full potential through creation and execution of a strategic workforce plan.
- Lead the use of the GPS and sponsor change and improvement programmes to deliver the strategic plan and annual performance targets.
- Develop a strategy that aligns to the value stream site and Pharma Supply Chain goals and deploy that strategy effectively.
- Work with colleagues in manufacturing strategy global logistics R&D and other GSC sites to develop and maintain an overall OSD strategic plan (3-10 years) in support of R&D and GSC requirements as identified through central strategy setting processes.
Basic Qualifications:
- Demonstrated understanding of cGMP and QMS principles.
- Direct experience of external auditing by MHRA and/or FDA.
- Experience in maintaining a safe working environment through risk assessment, application of the hierarchy of controls and accident reduction promotion.
- Demonstrated understanding of supply chain planning principles and processes.
- Proven capability to lead large teams (both line and matrix) to deliver business benefits.
- Direct people management development coaching and mentoring experience.
- Strategic and Supply Chain Planning capability - Analysis of medium to long term business change forecasts and development of scenarios and risk mitigation.
- Experience of working in a GPS or equivalent production system environment.
- Ability to communicate with and influence at all levels throughout the organisation across a number of functional disciplines.
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelors degree in science Engineering Business or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical product development and the commercial lifecycle with a solid understanding of supply chain planning principles.
- Experience of Oral Solid Dose new product introduction.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels across the organisation from shop-floor teams to senior leaders (including VPs) and across multiple functional areas.
- Experience managing budgets and strong financial awareness including cost control and financial decision-making.
