We're seeking an experienced and forward-thinking medical leader to join our Global Medical Affairs team as a Global Medical Director, Respiratory. This is an opportunity to shape the medical strategy for a key respiratory asset, driving scientific leadership across the product lifecycle and helping improve outcomes for patients worldwide. Working at the interface of science, healthcare and innovation, you'll play a pivotal role in generating evidence, engaging external experts, influencing clinical practice and ensuring patients benefit from the latest advances in respiratory medicine. As Global Medical Director, you will lead the development and execution of global medical strategies, evidence generation plans and scientific engagement activities for a respiratory asset. You will collaborate with colleagues across R&D, Commercial, Market Access and local medical teams to ensure medical insights are translated into meaningful actions that improve patient care. You'll bring together diverse perspectives from across the organisation and external healthcare communities to identify opportunities, address unmet needs and deliver medical impact at a global scale. Key responsibilitiesLead the development and execution of Global Medical Affairs Plans and Integrated Evidence Plans. Support the Global Medical Portfolio and Asset Strategy Leads in the development and timely execution of practice changing Global Medical Affairs Plans (MAP) and Integrated Evidence plans (IEP) in partnership with key stakeholders through the GMAT and IETThinks globally, while deeply understands priority LOC (Local Operating Company) needs and success measures. This is accomplished through extensive partnership and collaboration with LOC teams to understand landscape, market value drivers, unmet medical needs and timelines for deliverables required for their success. Partners across the internal ecosystem and with external partners to deliver Medical Plans that prioritize external impact above all else on time and on budgetLeveraging insights and learnings, inputs into the design of clinical trials and development plans to optimize the positive impact for patientsDrives excellence in scientific engagement by developing a strong collaborative network of global external experts (HCPs, patients, payors and regulators) to be engaged in advice seeking activities and appropriate initiatives to advance clinical care and patient outcomes in partnership with the LOC Medical teams where those experts resideDevelopment of deep subject matter expertise on the product and therapy area as well as the ability to drive proactive strategic planningWhy you? Basic QualificationsMD, MBBS, PharmD or PhD in a relevant scientific or clinical discipline. MD/MBBS/PharmD or PhD in clinical / scientific discipline related to Therapy Area or diseaseConsiderable experience in Medical Affairs including roles in LOCs and supporting pre/peri launch phases of assetsStrong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in EnglishAbility to prioritise and manage multiple projects, budgets, and interactions simultaneouslyAbility to thrive in a fast paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient. QualificationsExperience within Respiratory medicine or a closely related therapeutic area. Previous clinical or scientific experience in the specific Therapy Area or diseaseRobust understanding of internal and external codes of practice and regulations (certification where applicable)Demonstrated matrix leadership in previous roles with ability to build strong networks, manage complexity and cultural diversityExperience in medical support for briefing documents for regulatory interactions and payor dossiersGeneral understanding of statistics, safety, regulatory requirements. Demonstrated experience with developing global or local medical strategies and asset launches, especially within a priority marketSkilled at simultaneous consideration of scientific data and practical healthcare delivery needs from diverse health systems to optimise medical implementation of innovation.
