The Warehouse team at GSK’s Ware Manufacturing site is responsible for performing all tasks associated with the movement of materials into, within and onwards from the Ware Manufacturing site. We are looking for a strong people manager with relevant Warehousing skills and ability to set a vision for the warehouse team for the future.

Reporting directly to the site’s Logistics Director; you will be accountable for the Warehouse and Sales & Distribution teams, which are responsible for receipt, sampling and storage of materials from vendors, issue of materials to product streams, and despatch of products to freight forwarders for distribution to customers. As the Operations Manager you will operate the Warehouse and additional 3PL Warehouses within agreed budget levels, ensuring that there is a \'Quality\' and \'Environment, Health & Safety\' (EHS) culture amongst the wider team, whilst ensuring that the Warehouse is compliant and audit ready.

Further responsibilities include ensuring that staff have the appropriate skills for running the business and maintaining strategic alignment of the Warehouse to support future state and change projects (for Warehousing, Distribution and Supply Chain).

The warehouse team is circa 50 people across the Warehouse (including permanent and interim staff).
Key Responsibilities:

• Development and delivery of the Warehouse Strategy aligned to the Ware manufacturing site.

• Effective budgetary control against agreed targets (budget of c£ 4.3 million and staff levels of circa 50+ people). Support product streams to the agreed lead-times for movement of materials (approx. 120,000 picks per annum).

• Ownership of Customer orders despatched ex-site to plan, with correct paperwork and in a compliant manner.

• Ensure activities support SRM projections and metrics (to track performance and address abnormalities).

• Chair governance meetings covering Performance, People, Quality and EHS (including monitoring trends and agreeing action plans to address any slippage) internal Warehouse. Additionally govern external 3PL’s covering Performance, People, Quality and EHS as well as KPI metrics outlined in the SLA’s (Service Level Agreements) and any 3PL and transport contractual agreements.

• Govern and maintain facilities and plant including machinery and MHE fleet for Ware campus.

• Support all audits. Promote and encourage input/development of GSK Quality Management System. Ensure that GMP, Quality and EHS standards are maintained.

• Supporting and developing direct reports (as a coach or mentor), including allocating important projects and challenging responsibilities for development purposes.

• Ensure all warehouse staff are given regular appraisals and 1:1s to actively manage Performance and GSK Expectations whilst enabling them to receive the appropriate training & development for their role

• Accountable for the implementation of site changes/initiatives within own team. Drive appropriate system and operational changes and manage/propose process improvements. Provide resource as required to cross functional projects within the value stream.

About You:

This role would suit a self-motivated person who has management experience obtained from working in a cross-functional, global supply organisation. Knowledge and experience of real-world logistics and warehousing are required for the role, preferably obtained from working a highly-regulated industry. You will be resilient and calm under pressure, with strong people skills and a proven ability to influence people to achieve and drive performance. You will have a strong continuous improvement mindset.

About Ware Manufacturing Site:

We are co-located with our R&D colleagues and recently opened a new, state-of-the-art oral solid dose facility at Ware. At this location our scientists, technicians and engineers (from R&D and Global Supply Chain – GSC) work collaboratively together (using the latest technologies) to rapidly knowledge transfer and deliver GSK’s most innovative, medicines faster and more efficiently. On site we produce over 60 million respiratory inhalers each year with growing demand in future years. The site also processes Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) for use both on site and other manufacturing sites in our network.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Relevant manufacturing / logistics / warehouse experience (eg; managing a warehouse / logistics team in a complex highly-regulated industry).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in relevant discipline (eg; Science, Logistics, Technical, Engineering, etc).
