About the role: This role will be central to both the Supply Chain Planning Centre of Excellence (CoE) & Project Hermes. The CoE is strengthening planning capabilities across Haleon through globally consistent processes, advanced planning technologies and measurable performance improvement. Project Hermes is our global planning transformation programme, connecting process design, technology delivery and manufacturing execution through common planning platforms and standard ways of working. The Global Production Scheduling BPE (Business Process Expert) will be a senior subject matter expert role within this transformation. The role has direct influence on how Haleon designs, deploys and sustains production scheduling capabilities across its global manufacturing network.

This role requires deep practical expertise in production scheduling, including finite capacity planning, sequencing, changeover optimisation, campaign design, schedule stability and manufacturing execution. The successful candidate will be recognised as a subject matter expert, capable of influencing decisions from the manufacturing floor to senior leadership and challenging process, system and operational design decisions where required.

Key responsibilities:

• Process design and standards: Supporting production scheduling process design based on daily data analysis and KPI dashboards, covering line loading, sequencing and changeover optimisation, campaign and wheel structures, and short horizon rescheduling.
• Ensuring adherence to scheduling principles, guidelines and process, including the frozen and firm horizon definition, the rules for breaking the frozen period and the standard escalation when the schedule cannot absorb a change.
• Defining the handover standard from master production scheduling into detailed scheduling, and from detailed scheduling into shop floor execution, so that each handover has a defined content, timing and acceptance test.
• Defining the standard for schedule adherence measurement, deviation coding and the daily loss review that follows from it.
• Maintaining process documentation, RACI and standard operating procedures for the scheduling discipline, and keeping them current as the solution evolves.

Daily Management Standards and Daily Direction Setting: Supporting the Global Scheduling Process Owner in defining Daily Management Standards (DMS) and Daily Direction Setting (DDS) for the scheduling discipline, aligned to the site daily management system. Defining the exception and alert framework that directs scheduler attention, including capacity conflict, material or component not available at the scheduled start, sequence violation, late order and schedule break. Driving DMS and DDS deployment into sites, and coaching schedulers and site leadership through the first cycles of the new cadence.

Performance and scorecard: Establishing the scheduling related scorecard and its associated KPIs, including schedule adherence, schedule stability inside the frozen horizon, changeover time and count, line utilisation and the contribution of scheduling decisions to overall equipment effectiveness. Supporting root cause analysis on KPI performance and translating findings into specific process, parameter or capability actions. Aligning end-to-end transformation overarching processes with the other end-to-end streams and with internal and external partners, in particular Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality.

Data, systems and digital: Supporting system related functionality build in cooperation with the system integrator, the system provider and internal global and local teams, including advanced scheduling and optimisation solutions. Supporting alignment of data gathering and transformation standards with enterprise-wide stakeholders, especially Technology and Manufacturing. Driving improvement in data quality in cooperation with related internal and external teams, with particular focus on routings, rates, changeover matrices, resource calendars, shift patterns and setup groups. Owning scheduling-side planning parameter definitions such as scheduling horizon, sequence and setup rules, minimum campaign size, dispatching logic and buffer times, in partnership with the GPO Planning Parameters & Synchronisation.

Deployment and change: Assisting Change Impact Assessment (CIA), training development and documentation in cooperation with internal and external partners. Supporting the global roll out of process, system and scorecard into manufacturing sites, including proof of concept and pilot sites ahead of wider deployment. Supporting site teams in understanding the process, the system and the tasks related to roll out preparation, and capturing the site feedback that improves the next wave. Transitioning ownership of the deployed standard into the CoE at the point the programme steps back, so that nothing is left without an owner.

Job Requirements:

• Discipline subject matter expertise: Deep working knowledge of production scheduling: finite scheduling logic, sequencing and changeover optimisation, campaign and wheel design, frozen horizon management and the relationship between schedule quality and line performance.
• Able to hold a credible technical conversation with planners, with the system integrator and with senior leadership on the same day.
• Data analysis and dashboard creation: Strong numerical and analytical skills. Able to combine data from different sources, build and maintain KPI dashboards, draw solid conclusions, create action plans and follow them through. Able to generate insight from both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• Process design and improvement: Expertise in process design, Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement approaches. Proven experience in process design, simplification, standardisation, alignment and roll out.
• Project and programme management: Able to plan, sequence and land deliverables within a programme structure, manage dependencies across workstreams and hold pace against a critical path.
• Cross-functional leadership: Experience and capability in guiding multi-national and cross-functional teams within a matrix environment, without direct line authority.
• Change leadership: Strong change leadership experience. Able to assess change impact, anticipate resistance and build the case for a new way of working with the teams who have to live with it.
• Communication and collaboration: Good communication and team-oriented skills. Senior stakeholder management skills and experience in engaging internal customers. Able to convey ideas concisely and clearly to markets, Business Units and senior management, and to push back constructively where necessary.
• Close to the ground: Ability to stay close to the ground to understand the real end user experience and perspective, and to reflect it in the design rather than defending the design against it.

Experience needed:

• Substantial experience (typically 6 years or more) in production scheduling or site planning within a multi-site manufacturing environment, including hands-on time owning a live schedule.
• Hands-on experience with an advanced scheduling or optimisation solution such as OMP, SAP PP/DS, Blue Yonder or an equivalent, alongside working knowledge of ERP production execution.
• Practical understanding of manufacturing performance systems, including loss trees, overall equipment effectiveness and daily management routines.
• Proven experience in process design, simplification, standardisation, alignment and roll out across multiple sites.
• Experience of the pharmaceutical, consumer goods or FMCG sector is preferred, including familiarity with regulated changeover, cleaning and batch release constraints.

Qualifications:

• University degree (BSc or equivalent) in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional supply chain certification such as APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP is desirable.
• Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or above) or formal continuous improvement training is advantageous.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken). Additional languages are an advantage given the global scope of the role.
