Overview

The purpose of the First Line Leader (FLL) role is to develop and enable a first touch team of operators to consistently deliver outstanding safety, quality, service and value to the person at the end of our supply chain. The role has a direct hour by hour impact on the ambition of the GMS Strategy to achieve the three zeros on Accidents, Defects and Waste. It is a key role in ensuring that the business strategy is delivered through an engaged, motivated and capable team of staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach teams on shift to ensure adherence to standards for safety, quality, compliance and output.
  • Provide coaching and development to improve behaviour and performance of individuals and the team whilst holding people to account for the duties that they are responsible.
  • Drive Performance Management using all the GPS principles.
  • Manage a team in line with all GSK and Barnard Castle specific policies and procedures, liaising effectively with central and site HR to be compliant and mitigate risk.
  • Be proactive in driving a positive Safety culture.
  • Establish a fully trained and capable team which are high performing and forward thinking to achieve results while remaining safe and compliant.

  • Ability to take decisions to stop production if a standard is not being adhered to.
  • Previous manufacturing environment experience is advantageous.
