As an Engineering Technician you will provide a comprehensive and professional engineering support service for the Steriles Business Unit (SBU) to meet the business and regulatory needs of the department. You will be responsible for all engineering activities associated with the production process.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with a range of equipment and technology within the Steriles Business Unit, including inspection, assembly, and packaging of vials.
- Operate on a shift‑based schedule, likely 24/7 or 24/5.
- Support day‑to‑day breakdown repairs of production and plant equipment.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Contribute to localized area projects, including new product introduction.
- Execute tasks within Engineering Change Controls.
- Prepare, complete, and own GMP safety and quality documentation.
- Manage SAP/MERPS activities such as work orders, notifications, data maintenance, and ordering of plant spares.
- Drive continuous improvement to increase performance in line with EHS and quality improvement objectives and KPIs using GPS tools.
- Plan equipment upgrades and manage obsolescence through continuous improvement.
- Maintain training compliance metrics.
- Perform calibration of equipment instrumentation.
- Supervise internal and external contractors, ensuring GMP standards and accurate contract details.
- Support sterile and terminally sterilised processes, including boundary control and contamination prevention.
- Manage building infrastructure tasks concerning building fabric, electricity, piped services supply and drainage.
- Operate and maintain systems such as air compressors, VHP, and refrigeration systems.
- Engage positively with stakeholders and deliver data cleansing activities for optimal data maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with role, department, and site procedures, processes, and systems.
- Manage data creation and changes to SAP vendor data.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of an HNC level qualification in an engineering discipline.
- Hands‑on experience of GSK/pharmaceutical processes and procedures.
- Experience with SAP business system.
- Demonstrable experience working with cross‑functional teams in a complex organization.
- Competence in current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and strong experience working in a complex GMP environment.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Experience working in classified areas such as ISO5 or ISO7 (sterile manufacturing environment).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to implement plans and hold yourself and your team accountable for delivery goals.
- Ability to work under pressure.
